we lost my mother in law Rosie to breast cancer in 2008. She suffered for many years, going through treatments and chemo, until finally the cancer took over her whole body and she finally lost her fight. Not too long after she passed away I found out that I had cervical cancer, and had a hysterectomy to remove my uterus and cervix, I have been cancer free since 2009. In 2011 I went for my regular mammogram thinking that everything was ok. I was shocked to discover that I had a golf ball size mass in my left breast. I was so scared, my husband and kids were too. Thank goodness after a second test, they found out it was a cyst. NO CANCER. I was so relieved. I started this series of photos to keep people aware of early detection. Self exams and yearly mammograms will save lives.

Rosie (my mother in law) left behind, her husband Bill and her sons. Jesse (my husband), David, Richard, Michael and Jimmy and too many grand children to name. She loved the holidays, decorating, spending time with her family, collecting movies, going out to eat. We miss mom every day, there are times we just talk about her and still cry because she was the reason so many family members would get together, she was an amazing lady. We love you mom Rest in Peace.
